Rallies

The Norfolk and Suffolk Branch aim to bring members from Norfolk and Suffolk together, also to meet Morris Minor owners from around the country who attend our rallies.

In 1985 we organised  our first Branch Rally, being at the East Anglia Transport Museum at Carlton Colville.  In 2015 we also held our 30th and last Branch Rally here.  If any of you are thinking that should be 31, in 2005 we didn’t have one!

Since then we have visited the Museum of East Anglian Life at Stowmarket, Bressingham Steam Museum, Easton Farm Park at Wickham Market, West Stow Anglo Saxon Village, Gifford’s Hall at Hartest, Banham Zoo, joined the Lowestoft Classic Vehicle Club at Fritton Lake, St Felix School at Reydon and Ditchingham.

We have also been to Stonham Barns, Rougham Airfield, Kentwell Hall, Somerleyton Hall, Weeting Steam Rally, Reedham, and Ufford Bygones and Fun Day; visiting some venues on more than one occasion.

We used to hold a rally in Norfolk as well, but since the formation of the West Norfolk Branch and then the North Norfolk Branch, most of our members are from Suffolk and we stopped holding them in 2003 after they then became runs.

Our first Iceni Rally was at Thursford Steam Museum and after that we have visited Wroxham Barns, been on the Tudor Tour Run, Cockley Cley Iceni Village (of course!), to the Muckleburgh Collection at Weybourne, the Bygone Village at Fleggburgh, organised a Mills and Minor Run.

We have also been to the Bure Valley Railway at Aylsham, to the Gressenhall Rural Life Museum and County School Station, had a run out from Reepham to Thursford, Pensthorpe Wildfowl Park, had a run to Denver Mill and then to the Collectors World at Downham Market and one from Holt to Sheringham. Again we have been to some venues on one or more occasions.

A number of Branch members have also organised runs for us. These include visiting some Suffolk churches, the Tolly Cobbold Brewery, taking a tour around Sizewell B Power Station, Seething Airfield, the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton and Linton and Finchingfield (although these are not in Norfolk or Suffolk).

Over the past few years we have been to lots of places of interest on our Drive It Day runs. As mentioned above we have been the organisers in the past of the Eastern Regional rallies. These started at Oulton Broad and many of them were held at the Norfolk Showground. We have also held them at Lotus Cars and the Eye Show.
