MEETINGS
Owing to the rally season now due to start, we do not have any meetings at Scole until October. More details will be in future Newsletters.
We still have lots of outings planned each month, so read on and we hope you will be able to join us at some or all of them.
EVENTS
23rd May - 30th Anniversary Day.
The evening of the 22nd May we have a barbecue at Tricia and Jimmy’s home at Boundary Farm, Forge Road, Langley near Loddon, 6-30pm for 7pm. The price per person is £3-00. Please let Tricia know if you will be attending so we know how many to cater for.
The Sunday will see a whole day of competitions and tests. We have an autojumble open to all makes of cars, and Dick from Pop’s Place will be having a stall, along with Bryan Gostling and Martin Wallis bringing along some spares. A table will cost you £5-00 for the auto jumble, so why not bring some of your surplus spares along for sale. As Bryan is attending we are taking advantage of him by asking him to do valuations on members cars. So if you need one for insurance purposes or would just like to know how much your car is worth, why not bring it along. All we ask is a donation towards this service. Martin will also be doing some auto tests, which can be quite fun. So both he and Bryan will be very busy on the day. Paul Collison will be on hand for any help with technical advice. So if you have something on your car that you need help with, come along and we will try to help you out.
Founder members John Frye and Chris Smedley should be joining us during the day. So if you haven’t yet met our Club Chairman, come along and do so. There will be a section for displaying our cars and there are other makes of cars coming along to join us. Tricia and Jimmy will be compiling a road run/treasure hunt. Competitions include the traditional “grope”, identifying the part, guess the weight of the 30th Anniversary cake, lucky programme, raffle, guess the name of the bear (By Angie Leaver) and find the fault on the car.
We need lots of help on the day to run these competitions, so please let Tricia know if you can help. We also need help with raffle prizes, so could you please bring one along. If you think of any competitions we could do, any ideas are welcome. We would like to make this a big event to celebrate our 30th Anniversary, so please do come along and support your Branch’s event.
Overnight camping is available, although they will be basic facilities and refreshments will be on hand throughout the day. So a lot going on for everybody to enjoy from 10-30am. All Branch members attending will receive a memento for the 30th Anniversary. Please would you be able to let Tricia know if you will be attending this event, so we know some numbers.

EVENT REPORTS
25th April - Drive It Day.
Eight Morris Minors and two Marinas gathered at Morrison’s Supermarket in Fakenham for the annual Drive It Day run. Not a bad turn out of vehicles considering the price of petrol these days! As we were parked near to the petrol station, we were able to see various makes of classic cars fill up for their Drive It Day run. These included a Wolseley 6/80 and a Green Goddess fire engine. Martin handed round a copy of the route we were to take and we set off just after 10am.

We headed out towards Holt on the A148 and eventually headed out to the A149 coast Road. We did a lap of the quay at Blakeney and Wells to show everybody that we were on Drive It Day. We had a very short stop at Burnham Overy Staithe and were off again as it started to rain again. This continued all the way until we arrived at Old Hunstanton, where we stopped for a break at the Lighthouse café. Hunstanton then became Sunny Hunny (as they call it).
Then we were off again passing Norfolk Lavendar and eventually arriving at the Collectors World at Downham Market. The run was about 75 miles in total. Once at the Collectors World all participants received a certificate for completing the run. We then took the opportunity of visiting all the collections of just about everything you could think of. These included washing machines, vacuum cleaners and now computers. There was a lot to keep us amused. Some members even enjoyed tea and scones. We thanked the Marina boys, Ian Spooner and Paul Utting for compiling the run and presented them with a bottle of wine each.

We hope everybody enjoyed the run out for our part of Drive It Day. Thankfully the weather got out hot and sunny in the afternoon for us. We thank those that came long distances. Ian Hamilton and Mandy Webb and Chris Mitchell came from Haverhill. While Martin and Jacky and Brian Lloyd travelled from Ipswich. We also had three members from Cambridge Branch, Kevin Bye and Philippa and Stephen Miller. Greg Chandler drove from Brundall and Tricia and Jimmy from Langley. So well done to you all who came such a long way to support our Branch. We did see a few other classic cars out for a drive during the day. So next year we hope to do another run to celebrate Drive It Day and we hope you will join us then.
