23rd April 2006 - Drive It Day.
Six Branch members gathered at Tesco Supermarket, Sprowston for the starting
point of this run on St Georges Day. Bryan and Hilary Gostling had compiled
the route and handed out the relevant maps. Tricia led the way through
Rackheath and Salhouse, passing some very expensive houses on the way to
Wroxham Barns. We had been given questions to answer along the route. We
spent some time looking around the shops and garden centre at Wroxham Barns.
We left with Bryan leading the way towards Brampton. The home of the MMOC
Chairman John Frye, who came out to wave us past. We were en route for
Blickling Hall, where we had lunch and spent time looking around.
Our next stop was the little village of Heydon, where they were holding their
St Georges Day celebrations. We watched and cheered on a tug-of-war game and
visited the local church.
After spending some time here we travelled on to Kerry's Pine at Reepham
Station. I have never seen so many thing all in one place. Some of us
brought furniture and managed to get it in the back of our Minors. We all
enjoyed a cup of tea in the Station cafe to round off the day. Thank you to
Bryan and Hilary for organising the run.
