31st August 2008 - Radio Norfolk Rally/Police Gala Day.
The weather for this event was the best we have had all summer. We were able
to put up our tent on the stand in lovely sunshine with virtually no wind and
very hot. The North Norfolk Branch joined us on our usual part of the Norfolk
Showground and between us we had a display of nineteen cars. The West Norfolk
Branch were also in attendance in the main rally display.
Radio Norfolk were combining their radio programme "Treasure Quest" with David
Clayton with the car rally and the first clue led to a Morris Minor. Tricia
Loades was interviewed and asked whether the year 1973 was significant to the
Morris Minor. It turned out that the registration number of the Minor had 973
in it. The owner Michele Neave drove in front of the presenter to give her
the second clue. Michele has now become a member of the Branch.
Philip Horn from the West Norfolk Branch won the Post War category with his
pick-up and was interviewed on the Radio. Philip also went around the main
arena at the end of the rally as did Branch Chairman Owen Smith with his
traveller. We had a good day on our stand with one new member and regalia
being sold.
