22nd April - Drive It Day.
Eight Morris Minors and one Marina met up in the Market Place at Swaffham.
Along the way there some of us had met some other classic cars on their own
version of "Drive It Day". Bryan Gostling the organiser of the run handed out
the route for us to take for the day. Ted Howting led the way for us on the
journey to Sandringham, our first stop of the day. Along the route we had to
be observant and answer some questions for marking at the end of the run.
We had lunch at Sandringham and left with a drive past of the Austin Healeys
and the Fakenham Car Club who were also visiting. Then onward to our next
stop of Norfolk Lavender at Heacham. We met up briefly with the North Norfolk
Branch here on their "Drive It Day" run. After a short visit here we made a
slight detour off the run, due to traffic conditions. We missed out
Hunstanton joining back up on the run at Holme-next-Sea.
We then travelled on Brancaster were we had a photo with one of the last
remaining AA boxes from the 1950's. Bryan had brought a key, but alas it
didn't fit. Our next stop was Holkham Hall were we looked round and Bryan and
Hilary were thanked and presented with some wine and chocolates for organising
a lovely day out. Our final stop of the day was at Wells for some welcome
fish and chips.
