21st & 22nd June 2008 - National Rally.
Four Branch members travelled together to Stanford Hall in Leicestershire on
the Friday and managed to camp all together, because when we arrived the
campsite was already getting quite full. On the Friday and Saturday nights
nine Branch members enjoyed outdoor barbecues despite the weather.
It rained nearly all Saturday and we set up our tent on Branch Avenue, which
was to act as our meeting point for the weekend, as the campsite was quite a
distance from the rally field. We sold a bit of Branch regalia with some
going all the way back to Australia. We had four Branch members displaying
their cars on the Branch Avenue, and with the tent we had a good set up.
I don't know how many cars there were arrived all over the weekend, but there
were lots of them. Sunday was very windy and we arrived in the morning to
Branch Avenue to see that our tent was almost the only one still standing. We
saw a lot of our Branch members over the weekend. About fifteen of them, so a
good turnout from our Branch.
We thanks all those members who helped with food and preparation over the
weekend, especially Brian Lloyd who did the main cooking. He was even given
the use of a Viking helmet from our Scandinavian camping neighbours to help
him along. We had a very enjoyable weekend despite the weather.
