20th April 2008 - Drive It Day.
Eleven cars met at Tesco Supermarket Car Park, Harford Bridges, Norwich. They
were made up of seven Morris Minors, three Morris Marinas and one Morris
Ital. We met up in drizzly weather, which seemed to be set in for the day.
We were joined by two new members. One had joined at our Branch meeting in
March and the other joined on the day.
Which is very pleasing.
We set off at 10-30am and made our way through the centre of Norwich heading
towards Filby Broad for a coffee stop. Bryan Gostling was the organiser of
the day and had handed us all a route with questions to answer before the
off. We all managed to keep together on the run, but we didn't see any more
old cars out for the day.
By the time we had reached Great Yarmouth for our lunch stop the sun had come
out and the rain stopped. We had our lunch looking out to sea at the new
outer harbour being built, before driving around Yarmouth to the Time and Tide
Museum. We spent time looking around the Museum before Chairman Owen
presented us with certificates on completing the Drive It Day run. We gave
away membership forms to a Morris Minor owner who worked for the Museum. So
maybe another member?
We thank Bryan and Hilary Gostling for organising the event and hope to do it
all again next year.
