Drive It Day 2016

Drive It Day 2016

We had a turn out of eight Morris Minors for our first run of the rally season on 24th April.  Despite the weather, with hail and snow on the way, we all met up in sunshine at the Co-Op in Bungay, Suffolk.

Here we took the opportunity of having our photos taken with our Marie Curie hats, kindly given to us by the Fundraiser for Norfolk, Hugo Stevenson.

We were handed around a copy of the route the run would take today from our new Vice-Chairman, Sian Charlton.  Then at 10-30am we set off on a journey around the beautiful Suffolk countryside, taking in the villages of Beccles, Sotterley and Stoven and along the A12 to Blythburgh.  At one point we went through some woods with the seasonal bluebells out.

Our run eventually brought us to Flora Tea Rooms at Dunwich where all fourteen people sat down to an excellent fish and chip lunch.  In the car park was a black custom Minor belonging to one of the lads in the kitchen.

After lunch we headed for a walk down the road to the Dunwich Museum which has a history of Dunwich before it was lost under the sea many years ago.  At one point it had at least seven different churches.  We were told in a video that if you listened hard enough you could hear the bells of one of the lost churches.

Thank you to all the members who attended on our first event of the year and Sian for compiling the run.  The weather was still kind to us even though the wind blew sand at Flora Tea Rooms while we ate our lunch!
